So, you’ve travelled through the stages of getting married (dating, building a relationship and getting engaged). The last step now is planning the actual wedding before your new journey with your soulmate begins. You might know exactly what your wedding is going to be like because you’ve been dreaming about it ever since you were a little girl, or you have absolutely no idea… No idea of where to start, what you want, or what your soon-to-be-spouse wants…
At least we can give you some advice. After you’ve gotten engaged, have the conversation with your partner on whether having a long or short engagement would be best for you. Both options have their perks and impact your planning timeline. Obviously, the long engagement option holds the luxury of planning at a slow and leisurely pace, resulting in less stress. You’ll be able to choose between your favourite vendors (because they’re booked way in advance), and you can enjoy the ‘just-engaged’ feeling for a month or so.
The average couple is engaged for 13 months, but there may be lots of reasons why less than a year might be perfect for you and your partner. Maybe you have a particular season in mind, or you just can’t wait to spend the rest of your life with your true love! It’s totally fine!
