Sandton Central lends a helping hand to Sandown Clinic with vital equipment donation
12 November 2025

With a commitment to community wellbeing in the precinct, the Sandton Central Management District (SCMD) has stepped forward to support the Sandown Clinic by sponsoring essential items that were identified as gaps in the Clinic’s disaster drill.

Sandown Clinic, known for its long-standing service to residents in and around Sandton for two decades, was officially opened on 25 October 2000 by Mr Justice Hlomuka-Ngidi, the then Mayor of Sandton. Since then, it has continued to serve as a vital healthcare facility.

Today, the Clinic provides a comprehensive range of primary healthcare services, including HIV counselling and testing, antenatal care, family planning, child immunisations, tuberculosis treatment, and minor ailment management. It also plays a key role in health promotion through education and screening programmes that support early detection and prevention.

Like many public health facilities, Sandown Clinic faces ongoing challenges with limited resources and ageing infrastructure. These gaps were highlighted during the clinic’s recent disaster drill, which

identified several urgent equipment needs to ensure readiness in the event of a crisis.

Recognising the importance of swift action, the Sandton Central precinct moved quickly to sponsor the identified disaster management items, helping the clinic strengthen its ability to respond

effectively to emergencies and protect the wellbeing of patients and staff.

Says Elaine Jack, District Improvement Manager of Sandton Central Management District. “The Sandown Clinic has long been a valued partner to the precinct by supporting the health and those

who live, work, and visit Sandton Central. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the importance of accessible public healthcare is even clearer and it’s vital for businesses and residents to protect and support facilities like Sandown Clinic”.

Lenos Masipa, City of Johannesburg Operational Manager of Sandown Clinic says “as Sandown clinic we are delighted to have partnership with our business partners to ensure that our communities both living and working in our catchment area are having their health care needs attended to timeously to prevent serious complications that can even results in one losing one’s life. Our mandate is to save life and ensure quality health for our communities. We hope this partnership will help to ensure that the facility is equipped with the advance technology equipment that will ensure that we achieve our goal”.

Through initiatives like this, Sandton Central aims to show how partnerships can build a safer, more caring community for all.
