Police maintain a strong presence in Sandton

Police have set up a Venue Operation Centre in Sandton following the incident between metered and Uber taxis last week, and the SAPS are closely monitoring the area closely.

Sandton Central Management District (SCMD) called on the SAPS to bring all criminals involved to book, protect our people and prevent the incidents of criminal violence in future. The SAPS has assured SCMD that it is giving the situation its highest priority and has established the operations centre on West Street for its communication and to manage peace in the area around the Gautrain Station.

SCMD urges all transport operators to respect their clients and compete fairly.
