Youth Day Events in Sandton Central 2021

Come and spend Youth Day in Sandton Central on Wednesday, 16 June 2021! As Nelson Mandela stated, “Our children are our greatest treasure. They are our future.” You are our community’s, city’s and country’s future and we wouldn’t want you to spend it anywhere else… Okay, we might sound a little selfish, but we have everything to make it memorable, we promise.

Previously known as Soweto Day, due to the protest march of more than 20 000 pupils from Soweto in 1976, Youth Day is extremely important to us. We honour the many youth lives lost back then while honouring our hard-working and ambitious youth’s energy today.

Youth Day in Sandton Central

Of course, we have a calendar of exciting events which might spread across the whole of June, but who said Youth Day couldn’t become Youth Month?! It’s like someone saying no to a birthday weekend – not in this age, hun!

Keep an eye on our events; there might be a couple of irresistible ones… But there’s one event we want to single out because it’s relaxing and just what you need to unwind from carrying the world on your shoulders (wink-wink). If you haven’t attended this event yet, be sure to book now… It’s the Winter afternoon High Tea at The Maslow!

The Alltime Tea – A Taste of Relaxation

June’s dates are on the 12th and 26th, both Saturdays from 13:00 to 16:00. Bring along your friends, colleagues, siblings; bring anyone you want, just come and experience the natural splendour of The Maslow’s lush garden environs while sipping a drink and eating petit fours – next-level luxury, wouldn’t you say?

The traditional English-style afternoon tea is served on a three-tiered cake stand, with either a choice of tea selections, a G&T or a glass of champagne, depending on your preference.

It’s not that expensive either! The Standard high tea is only R395 per person. If you like your tea with something extra special, the Gin and tonic high tea is R480 per person, and the Champagne high tea R695 per person.

You’re probably wondering what’s on the menu, aren’t you? Here it is! On the top tier, you get 2 of the following – a seasonal selection of miniature cakes, pastries and petit fours (if you haven’t Googled this yet, it’s small bite-sized confectionery or savoury appetizers). On the middle tier, there are 2 scones, dusted with powdered sugar, served with strawberry preserve, clotted cream and lemon curd, as well as spinach and feta quiche, cheese and jalapeno rissoles, and mini chicken pies. Last but not least, sandwiches with these mouth-watering fillings on the lower tier – chicken with nutmeg and tarragon edged with walnuts, English hot-house cucumber with orange-mint butter, and smoked salmon and cream cheese with lemon. Enjoy all of this with a tea selection that includes herbal and fruit infusions and black and green tea.

If you can’t make it this month, which we really hope you can, there are dates available every second Saturday for July and August too. Book your seat before it’s too late – (010) 226 4647 or lacuna.bistro@suninternational.com.

Obviously, there’s always the choice to visit your favourite restaurant, spend time outdoors, or enjoy and learning from arts and culture. However you choose to spend your youth, we wish you a happy and prosperous Youth Day, Sandton!
