Believe in the Magic this Festive Season

Believe in the Magic this Festive Season

This month is all about giving, reminding all that there is more to the holidays than just consumerism and commercialisation. We step into a space of generosity, and we encourage everyone – individuals, families, schools, and businesses – to give to the less fortunate.

The festive season is all about food and drinks, gifts and cards, decorations, re-gifting, and carolling, and yes we spend this time with family and friends, but everyone could uplift someone’s spirit during the month. Therefore, we encourage you to partake in all the festive activities with someone less fortunate in mind. How? We’ll guide you!

Take The Tour!

First Stop: Food and Drinks

Sandton Central has a wide selection of restaurants, and one could easily, while enjoying festive meals or shopping for ingredients at department stores, include that specific person on the street corner that comes to your mind, to your shopping list. Order an extra meal while you’re enjoying lunch at The Grillhouse at Alice Lane, or purchase a festive combo tub from Spar Supermarket at Athol Square when busy shopping for everything you need for the annual family feast. We guarantee that this will spark your festive spirit and if you can’t afford it, a simple takeaway cappuccino from Motherland Coffee in Benmore Centre will even warm any person right up!

Second Stop: Gifts and Cards

We’re sure that your gifts list is quite long, but what effect would another small gift really have? We’re not talking expensive electronics, but rather a pair of socks, a new cap, or a chalkboard and coloured chalks to help with their messaging. Consider something small when you’re deciding on the stylish pair of shoes from Palazzo Pitti or that modern handbag from Factorie at Nelson Mandela Square. A simple card with an inspirational message basically cost nothing, but it could mean the world to someone else. Drop by CNA or Exclusive Books in Sandton City; we’re sure you’ll find something valuable.

Third Stop: Decorations

One can never have too many decorations, and let’s face it this year could end on a positive note with new decorations. If you’re searching for sparkling décor, make sure to head to Pick n Pay inside The Marc or Typo in Sandton City for some unique goodies. While you’re at it, purchase a small Christmas tree for someone that might not have one, or at least make it a priority to handout your old decorations instead. It might seem silly, but decoration can be life-enhancing…

Fourth Stop: Re-Gifting

Can you count how many times you’ve received a gift and never used or not to mention touched it since you’ve opened it? That’s exactly why re-gifting is so essential – for you to declutter, and for someone else to receive an item that is much-needed or might come handy in the future. Think about gifting someone else with the glasses in the cupboard that no one ever touches, or that cute plunger set just standing on the kitchen counter for almost two years now. How to choose what to re-gift? It’s simple!  If you haven’t used the product in the last 6 months, you don’t need it, and you probably won’t miss it.

Fifth Stop: Go Carolling

Famous Christmas carols is an experience every single person must experience once in their lives. We usually take the family, especially the children, to see this and sing along. “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, and “Jingle Bell Rock” are popular songs, but has the unfortunate person you drive past each day to work or home ever heard it? Maybe it’s the best time to invite them to join you and your family. We don’t always know people’s circumstances, but we can influence them to believe that “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year”.
