Heritage Day 2022 Activities in Sandton Central

Heritage Day 2022 Activities in Sandton Central

It’s that time of the year again! Join us in celebrating our South African roots and rich, vibrant, and diverse cultures. It may not be the public holiday we all wished for (since it’s on the weekend), but it’s not to be neglected.

We are the rainbow nation, and we still deserve to be recognised for our diversity in unity. We invite you to Sandton Central this Saturday, 24 September 2022, to participate in honouring South African arts, foods, drinks, and events.

South African arts

Theatre on the Square offers Virtual Concerts to The Real Mccoy with Miro Chakaryan and Sonja Van Zyl (Piano) on 23 September, and an exciting African Jazz Concert featuring Blondie Makhene and his three-piece band on 30 September. Tickets are R100 and R60 for members. For further information, please contact Daphne directly on 083 3774969 or at theatreonthesquare@gmail.com.

Visit the Berman Contemporary Art Gallery and enjoy South African Contemporary Art’s cultural richness and diversity. The gallery establishes connections to artists from all walks of life whose unique artistic processes celebrate their historical and cultural heritage and give a voice to their complex societal realities, evoking an active and interpretative experience for the viewer.

Heritage Event in Sandton Central

Celebrating South African Heritage with food

Food forms a huge part of any culture, and this is especially true in South Africa, which is a melting pot of mixed heritages with 11 official languages.

The Maslow, Sandton will celebrate the wealth and diversity of our Rainbow Nation on Heritage Day, September 24, when their culinary team stages a braai to remember, complimented with freshly prepared salads and desserts.

So, whether it’s masala yoghurt marinated lamb shish, grilled sirloin or fresh Linefish that you fancy, these options and more will be on the buffet, along with sides including pap and chakalaka, glazed sweet potato, creamed spinach, potato gratin and rice pilaf.

“No matter what your heritage is – Afrikaans, Indian, Pedi, Xhosa or Sotho – come and celebrate this public holiday in true warm South African style at The Maslow, Sandton,” said Herman Swart, General Manager at The Maslow. Click here for times, cost & the menu.

Our culture and our heritage define our present and future. Happy Heritage Day, Sandton!
