Call us Crazy: Theatre on the Square<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u2019ve said it before and we\u2019ll say it again, but it still can\u2019t be emphasised enough.<\/p>\n

South Africa is a unique, and oftentimes hilarious, nation.<\/p>\n

A one of a kind, whacky, funny and sometimes unrealistically out-there country full of colourful personalities. Let\u2019s face it, there\u2019s never a dull moment where we\u2019re concerned.<\/p>\n

Where else in the world can cars stop in the middle of the road to drop off passengers with zero regard for the obscenities being yelled at them? Where else are phrases like \u201cour systems are offline\u201d and \u201cthat *insert expletive* Eskom!\u201d so common they\u2019re practically local proverbs? We say shame when we get good news and our favourite snacks are either dried bits of meat or biscuits so hard they\u2019d work against Thanos. We are, in a nutshell, a truly unique country.<\/p>\n

And we wouldn\u2019t have it any other way.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s something about South African humour that\u2019s just different. People talk about British Comedy and how hilarious the USA is, but only those who either live here or grew up on our shores will truly understand just how side splitting funny we are. It says a lot about our character and is testament to our spirit that a country so previously divided and still feeling the ramifications of past atrocities is able to face the world with a smile.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s something unique to us.<\/p>\n

You can be a CEO, a cleaner, a beggar at the robot or frustrated in Home Affairs, but you\u2019ll never be far away from that South African smile. Rather than let our past define us, we\u2019ve learned to remain positive and see the beauty in life regardless of circumstance. And that, we feel, is simply magical.<\/p>\n

With this in mind, we\u2019re proud to bring you a theatrical celebration of our weird and wonderful nation in the form of CALL US CRAZY<\/strong>. Showing showing from the 18th June to 6th July at Auto & General Theatre on the Square<\/a> with SELLO SEBOTSANE, MARITJIE BOTHMA and JOSIAS DOS MOLEELE,<\/strong> it\u2019s a must-see for anyone who appreciates our amazing land.<\/p>\n

\"Call
\nFast paced, multi-dimensional and wholly self aware, the show perfectly epitomises who we are in that it essentially sees our country laughing at itself. If you\u2019re all about puns and satire, look no further. One thing, we know our humour.<\/p>\n

In a nutshell, the play tells the story of a disillusioned construction worker on a mission to tar all the roads in the world (the weird part is there are probably very real people just like him scattered across the country as we speak). After almost three decades of dissatisfaction, our protagonist and a colleague decide to up and leave their job and start their own thing. What follows is a series of, well, crazy adventures, featuring glimpses of sides of SA you may not have seen.<\/p>\n

From townships and parliament to urban and rural areas, rest assured no stone is left unturned.<\/p>\n

We are unique in our diversity, but in spite of how different we are, what never changes is our ability to be utterly entertaining. We\u2019ve all been to the movies hundreds of times, and how much of dinner can you eat? If you\u2019re looking for a night out that\u2019s different yet still SO worth it, look no further, because Call us Crazy is an experience of a lifetime. And then some.<\/p>\n
