Sandton\u2019s central district is growing at an extraordinary pace, there is no doubt it plans to maintain its status as the wealthiest square mile in South Africa and leading property development is one of the ways it will do so.<\/p>\n

Achieving greater heights doesn\u2019t only speak of the scale at which Sandton is developing, but also the architectural design innovation that is further elevating the vibrant financial district.<\/p>\n

The area is currently responsible for 48% of new commercial property development in the country according to the latest South African Property Owners Association Office Vacancy Survey for 2016.<\/p>\n

Let’s take a look at a few exciting developments:
\n1. Old Mutuals<\/strong> recently completed Emerging Markets headquarters. The new 30 000m2 Stella Road premises developed by Old Mutual Property will be visible from the main arterial routes of Rivonia Road and West Street. With its prime location directly opposite the Sandton Gautrain station. The 12-story development is targeting a five Green star rating from the Green Building Council of South Africa, in alignment with Old Mutual\u2019s commitment to sustainability.

\n2. Sasol\u2019s new 67,000sqm 10-story head office<\/strong>. Developed by Alchemy Properties and Sasol Pension Fund \u2013 the distinctive corporate headquarters were completed in December 2016.<\/p>\n

3. Growthpoint Properties and Zenprop<\/strong> are developing, and jointly own, Discovery\u2019s head office in Sandton. The\u00a0 110,000sqm resource-efficient, cost-effective and environmentally-innovative Discovery global headquarters is the largest single-phase commercial office development in Africa.

\n4. The Central at 96<\/strong> Rivonia Road is a 100,000sqm site being developed by Investec and Cri-Eagle to accommodate office, retail, hotel and residential development. The Central is located on the corner of Rivonia Road and Johan Avenue, directly opposite Sandton City Shopping Centre and 100 meters from the Sandton Gautrain Station.The first development to take place on The Central site is a 20,000sqm state-of-the-art office building, comprising fourteen floors of unique office space. Eight of the fourteen floors have already been taken by leading law firm Werksmans.<\/p>\n
