In this blog, we\u2019ll take you through one of Sandton Central\u2019s best pizza restaurants, which pizzas they offer and the most suitable beers to pair them with. We\u2019ll also include an easy za-dough<\/em> you can try at home, and we\u2019ll share some of our favourite, yet unusual pizza toppings that you should add to your bucket list.<\/p>\n

Col’Cacchio in Benmore Centre<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\"Col'Cacchio<\/p>\n

At Col’Cacchio<\/a>, you can choose between comparing country-inspired<\/em> pizzas, for example, South Africa vs Korea. The South African pizza is a Jan Braai Pizza<\/strong> for R165 with the following toppings such as mielie meal dusted tomato base, mozzarella, pulled beef short rib, chakalaka, topped with sour cream and fresh coriander.<\/p>\n

The Korean pizza is an Oh My Seoul Pizza<\/strong> for R175 with the following toppings: Asian b\u00e9chamel base, mozzarella, bulgogi beef, shiitake mushrooms, red onion, sesame seeds, topped with Korean sauce and spring onion. These pizzas are both perfectly paired with a Castle Lager for only R28.<\/p>\n

Then, there\u2019s the option to choose between America vs Italy. The American pizza is the Smokey Joe Pizza<\/strong> for R175 with toppings: tomato base, mozzarella, slow-cooked, smokey BBQ brisket and pickled jalape\u00f1o, topped with tomato salsa.<\/p>\n

The Italian pizza is a Frutti Di Mare Pizza<\/strong> for R185 with the following toppings: tomato base, mozzarella, prawns and mussels, topped with parsley and a garlic lemon aioli. Both of these pizzas are perfectly paired with a Budweiser for R28.<\/p>\n

Alas, there\u2019s the option to choose between Indian vs Cape Malay. The Indian pizza is a Keema Pizza<\/strong> for R169 with the following toppings: tomato base, mozzarella, spiced lamb mince, green pepper topped with cucumber raita, fresh mint, spring onion and coriander.<\/p>\n

The Cape Malay pizza is a Denning Pizza for R189 with the following toppings: chutney b\u00e9chamel base, mozzarella, denningvleis stew, pickled jalape\u00f1o, and red onion topped with coriander. These two pizzas are the perfect combination with a Stella Artois Draught 300ml for R35.<\/p>\n

Easy at-home za-dough<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • 5ml teaspoon sugar<\/li>\n
  • 1 packet of instant dry yeast<\/li>\n
  • 10ml teaspoons of salt<\/li>\n
  • 353ml cup of warm water<\/li>\n
  • 705ml cups of cake flour<\/li>\n
  • 100g tomato-based pasta sauce<\/li>\n
  • Your choice of toppings<\/li>\n
  • 1 handful of basil for garnish<\/li>\n
  • 2 medium sliced avocados for garnish<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Combine dry ingredients and open a hole in the centre.<\/li>\n
    2. In small measures, add water in the centre and combine, making a dough.<\/li>\n
    3. Knead the dough with the back of your hand until you have a round, firm ball.<\/li>\n
    4. If your dough is too wet, add flour a tablespoon at a time (do the same with water if it is too dry).<\/li>\n
    5. Take the dough out, divide portions equally, and roll out on a solid surface; roll until your dough is about 1 – 1 \u00bd cm high.<\/li>\n
    6. Your dough does not need to rest; you can work with it instantly.<\/li>\n
    7. Preheat your oven, set it to 270\u2070, and put it in the oven pan for at least 10 mins.<\/li>\n
    8. Put the dough in the hot oven pan.<\/li>\n
    9. Smear the pasta sauce on the dough.<\/li>\n
    10. Top the pizza with your preferred toppings.<\/li>\n
    11. Bake for 10 mins, take your pizza out and garnish with basil and avocado.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
