Yes, an <em>art tour<\/em>, indeed!<\/p>\n<p>What is it that you\u2019ll be viewing exactly? <em>Hmmm<\/em>, be ready to see the finer details from glowing hand-carved plastered walls, an impressive recycled, melted plastic intricate collage, to a masterpiece set into reflective black granite with a collection of gold leaf embellished animal bones. The result is locally commissioned, site-specific artworks that are bold statements and stories woven together of our forefathers\u2019 journey\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>R500 per person package<\/strong> from Tuesdays to Sundays includes a tour of the art through Leonardo, a glass of Mo\u00ebt &amp; Chandon and entrance to Alto234. There\u2019s, of course, the option if you <em>don\u2019t <\/em>want to experience both, but only one. Then only pay R200 for the tour or R300 for Alto234, but <em>remember<\/em>, pre-booking is essential, and full payment is required 48 hours prior.<\/p>\n<p>We suggest having a cold one at the bar and perhaps grabbing a bite at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aurumrestaurant.co.za\/menus\">AURUM Restaurant<\/a> after the tour, at an additional charge, <em>needless to say<\/em>. Secure your spot now, before it\u2019s too late!<\/p>\n<p>If you decided that the art tour is, without a doubt <em>one<\/em>, <em>of many<\/em> you won\u2019t be missing this year, then you\u2019d better soak up these 5 ways to identify a good piece of artwork (that\u2019s <em>if<\/em> you don\u2019t know already).<\/p>\n<p><strong>5 Top Tips To Tell If A Piece of Artwork Is Of Good Quality<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Beauty: <\/strong>Instinctive and natural, you\u2019ll be the judge of whether a work of art is beautiful or <em>not<\/em>. \u2018Beauty is in the eye of the beholder\u2019\u2026 You won\u2019t necessarily decide <em>consciously<\/em>; you\u2019ll just automatically be captivated by shapes, patterns and symmetries or colours, textures and compositions. There are also other aspects such as movement or flow, figures and objects, and the presentation and framing. <em>Don\u2019t<\/em> overthink it; the only question you need to answer is <em>\u2018Do I like it?\u2019<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Skill: <\/strong>This one is easy; compare a piece of work with others, and you\u2019ll soon determine whether it was skillfully created, such as paintings. Is the artist <em>consistent<\/em> with all their paintings? Are there <em>odd markings<\/em> when compared? Some artwork may seem rushed but could be intentionally, as long as it\u2019s internally cohesive.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Inherent Meaning:<\/strong> Just as with music, is <em>any<\/em> art powerful &#8211; emotional, political or challenging preconceived ideas. Yes, not <em>all<\/em> art\u2026 a bowl of grapes is a bowl of grapes, and unless it\u2019s not transformed into wine, it\u2019s just a traditional still life. Take the time and see if you can find the meaning or emotion in it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Uniqueness: <\/strong>This usually has to do with the <em>how<\/em> &#8211; the artist uses new subjects or old subjects in a <em>new<\/em> Study a piece for some time and try and figure out what\u2019s different &#8211; sometimes it jumps at you, other times not <em>so<\/em> much.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fulfilled Intent:<\/strong> This is the most <em>important<\/em> &#8211; to figure out what the artist is trying to say. But it\u2019s <em>really<\/em> not a state secret. Just read the artist statement &#8211; the artwork should accurately portray a subject or express emotion and deepen and strengthen the viewer\u2019s understanding.
