We\u2019ve been keeping ourselves occupied with different activities for years, but where did the word \u2018hobby\u2019 originated from?<\/p>\n<p>Initially, it was a word used when people thought of something as childish or trivial. However, in 1976, Sir Matthew Hale, in Contemplations Moral and Divine, wrote: \u201cAlmost every person hath some hobby horse or other wherein he prides himself.\u201d He indicated that \u2018hobby horse\u2019 produced a legitimate sense of pride. Later on in the mid-80s flourished as working people had more time to enjoy leisure time. They found pleasure in things that interested them.
