By hooking our CCTV security camera up to a sophisticated AI program, our security team is able to identify abnormal behaviours in the public space such as loitering and dodgy gatherings. This allows our Precinct Operations Team to react and respond proactively to any potential threat. This AI program also analyses the thousands of vehicle licence plates that come through the area daily to check them against a list of reported criminal vehicles. This way, if these suspicious actors do enter our area, we are able to start tracking the car and inform our reaction team to follow and prevent crime. Futuristic, right?

The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) and the Sandton Central Management District have partnered up to implement an exciting new sustainable infrastructure project in our precinct! We’re going to ensure that traffic lights at major intersections continue to operate during load shedding by using generator power that’s generously supplied by nearby building owners.
The first participant in this Traffic Signal Secondary Power Initiative is Investec, whose generators will power the intersections at Grayston Drive and Rivonia Road, as well as Grayston Drive and West Road South. Participating property owners will connect their backup power systems, such as solar, generators, or UPS, to keep the traffic lights functioning during load shedding – keeping the flow of traffic through our community steady and moving.
We’ve facilitated this process to provide relief to motorists, enhance road safety, and demonstrate the positive impact that can be achieved when members of a community work together to address the challenges we’re all facing together! We’re hoping that more property owners will join this initiative in the future, to keep Sandton Central’s road network powered up and working at its best.
