The Springbok Experience – 25 Years of Champions at Nelson Mandela Square

Gauteng Springbok fans, this is an experience not to be missed! Opening on Thursday, the 22nd of April until Saturday, the 23rd of May 2021, Nelson Mandela Square is proud to be the very first Gauteng stop for The Springbok Experience – 25 Years of Champions. The Springbok Experience is a travelling exhibition and features trophies, displays, artefacts, video footage and interactive activities, focusing on Springbok victories from 1995 to 2019.
Celebrating iconic moments and the team’s path to World Cup glory in 1995, 2007 and 2019, the walk-in museum also features an Augmented Reality mirror, where visitors can take pictures with some of their Springbok rugby heroes and participate in a hand-off challenge.
The Springbok Experience is a must-see for all fans of the Springboks and all those with an interest in the game of rugby. A few of the interesting artefacts on display include; a statue of Nelson Mandela and Francois Pienaar, The Currie Cup, World Cup Jerseys and Medals, artefacts from the Springbok Rugby Museum as well as the first tour by the British Isles team in 1891.
Visitors will be able to gather information about the World Cup winning teams, get up close with the trophies and also learn about the history of the Currie Cup.
The Springbok Experience is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 8pm and on Sundays and Public Holidays from 9am to 6pm. The Experience is located on the Upper Level (Level 1) of Nelson Mandela Square, opposite Pappas. Entrance is FREE.
Nelson Mandela Square and The Springbok Experience are COVID-19 compliant and have stringent safety and hygiene measures in place. There are strategically positioned sanitising stations and signage throughout the property and exhibition, to ensure the adherence of physical distancing and the regulating of mask-wearing at all times.
