Sandton Central Newsletter - September 2020
22 September 2020

Finally, it’s time for Level 1 - our ‘new normal’ as long as COVID-19 is with us.

We can once again do, experience and enjoy more, and show off our beautiful city to international visitors – all with sensible COVID-19 prevention protocols, of course. Six months after the initial lockdown was announced, it is exciting to feel more energy returning to Sandton Central, the heart of our economy and South Africa’s cosmopolitan centre of commerce, culture and tourism.

Sandton Central is already buzzing with construction works and contractors repairing and maintaining services. Pedestrian and vehicle numbers were gradually growing during Level 2 as more people cautiously return to the office and their daily routines. Sit down support in restaurants is increasing as the weather gets warmer and restaurant patron confidence grows. More hotels and venues are opening with the loosened limits on gatherings and the later curfew.

We have also taken this time to make improvements to the precinct, including some security upgrades, which we will share with you soon. Of course, our incredible team of Men in Red are always there to support and assist you while you are in Sandton Central.

While crime decreased in the precinct with the low activity levels, our one concern is the number of car accidents caused by drunken driving in the evenings and at weekends. Please be responsible when enjoying your favourite drinks and don’t drive. The lockdown came with some harsh lessons for us all, so let’s remember these lessons and use them to create a different, better future.

We also encourage you to keep supporting initiatives like Rays of Hope and other charities that aid those in our local community who are homeless, hungry and in need of help.

Here’s looking forward to loving Level 1. Keep being safe and caring for one another.
