March is a month packed with inspiration. It is host to the International Day of Happiness (20), Earth Hour (26), and World Theatre Day and International Whisky Day (27).

Of course, and perhaps most exciting, March is also the month we celebrate Human Rights Day with a public holiday – a day to remind South Africans of the hard-fought-for rights and freedoms we enjoy. This year, it falls on Monday, 21 March, which also marks our first long weekend of the year. We can’t wait.

So far, 2022 has been a more normal, energised and busier year than the couple that came before it because of ‘you-know-what’. Most of us could do with some time off to relax, unwind, recharge, get out and catch up.

Whatever you’re looking forward to most about the long weekend, now’s the time to make it real. Book your weekend getaway, diarise your coffee date, plan your shopping trip, reserve your restaurant table, or buy your theatre tickets. Of course, you can enjoy doing all this and more in Sandton Central.

If you need a laugh this month (don’t we all?), Sandton Central will also be the home of the star-studded comedy show line-up of the Johannesburg International Comedy Festival taking place at both the Maslow Hotel and the Theatre on the Square, from 24 to 29 March, with SA’s best comedians telling their funniest jokes.

As we continue to rediscover ourselves and the world around us, March is the month to laugh and be inspired in Sandton Central. Come along and enjoy it all.
