Red Bull Cart Race 2018
Sunday 16 September, Sandton Drive
The Red Bull Box Cart Race is a global event for fearless, fun-loving and foolhardy amateur drivers racing soapbox carts. This year Sandton Central is one of five locations worldwide to host the event, providing the steepest and most exciting track down Sandton Drive. The handmade racing machines are non-motorised and teams are judged for their speed, creativity, and showmanship.
Standard Bank Joy of Jazz
Thursday 27 to Saturday 29 September, Sandton Convention Centre
Enjoy musicians from around the world representing the jazz heritages of Africa, Europe, Asia and North America. Grammy winner Cassandra Wilson and David Sanborn, two jazz greats, are among the biggest names this year. Artists also include Oliver Mtukudzi (Zimbabwe), Wazimbo and Banda Kakana (Mozambique), the Nairobi Horns Project (Kenya), Tlale Makhene (SA), Letta Mbulu (SA), Bilal (US), Kengo Nakamura & Carl Fredrik Orrje (Japan/Sweden), Buika (Spain) and many others.
