We are delighted to welcome Dr Anthony Yip, a highly experienced Cardiologist, to Mediclinic Morningside.

Dr Yip brings over 19 years of specialist cardiology experience, with a strong focus on patient-centred care and long-term heart health. He has relocated his well-established practice from Fourways to join our team in Morningside, and we are excited to offer our patients access to his expert care.

About Dr Anthony Yip
Dr Yip is a proud Johannesburg native and graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand, where he earned his medical degree in 1997 and later specialised in both internal medicine and cardiology. He holds numerous prestigious qualifications, including:

· Fellowship from the College of Medicine of South Africa
· Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK
· Certification in Cardiology (CMSA, 2006)
· Fellowship of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI)

He trained in interventional cardiology at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, and further refined his skills through observerships in Italy with world-renowned cardiologists Professors Paolo Rubino and Antonio Colombo.

Areas of Interest
Dr Yip’s clinical work includes emergency coronary interventions for heart attacks, but his passion lies in preventative cardiology — helping patients avoid heart disease through education, empowerment, and early intervention. His areas of special interest include:

· Cardiorenal medicine – understanding the link between heart and kidney disease
· Diseases of the aorta
· Heart disease in women

Dr Yip has contributed to international guidelines on heart care in patients with kidney disease and is regularly invited to speak at local and global conferences. His research has been published in leading journals, and he continues to collaborate with global experts in the field.

Beyond the Clinic
In addition to his medical achievements, Dr Yip holds a Master’s in Medical Law from the University of Edinburgh, with a strong interest in patient data protection and the evolving legal landscape of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
