JOBURG CONVENTION BUREAU WELCOMES 17TH EDITION OF MEETINGS AFRICA
01 March 2023

“As the home of Meetings Africa, South Africa’s premium business tourism lekgotla, along with our bid partners, we’re ready to welcome the 17th edition of Meetings Africa to Joburg”, says Councillor Nomoya Mnisi, MMC for Economic Development at the City of Johannesburg.

“Needless to say, we’ve weathered an unpredictable two years of setbacks and surprises delivered via the global COVID-19 pandemic. However, there is an immense feeling of enthusiasm and hopefulness that we’re through the worst phase, in a period which has brought the globe to a halt - and had a profound impact on industries and economies.

Before the impact of the pandemic was felt, according to Euromonitor International in 2019 Johannesburg welcomed 4, 2 million visitors; this dropped dramatically to just 1, 3 million in 2020. In 2021 Johannesburg recorded just over 2 million arrivals, a welcome boost towards sector recovery.
