Dedicated stroke care
Mediclinic Morningside provides specialized care for stroke patients. It is very important for a stroke patient to receive proper care and treatment as soon as possible. Brain damage due to a stroke can be minimized when treatment and medication are provided within 3 to 4.5 hours after the stroke.
During a stroke emergency call: 084 124
Do the F.A.S.T. test if a stroke is suspected
F – FACE: Does one side of the face droop?
A – ARM weakness: Close your eyes, and hold your arms out for ten seconds. Does one arm drift down?
S – SPEECH Difficulty: Repeat any sentence. Is speech slurred, are wrong words used or is the person unable to speak?
T - TIME: Every minute counts. Call 084 124 in the event of an emergency.
