Event - Webber Wentzel Mandela Day

Start Date: 2017-07-18 · End Date: 2017-07-18 · Venue: Webber Wentzel

Mandela Day is celebrated annually on Nelson Mandela's birthday on 18 July to inspire individuals to take action to help change the world for the better. Nelson Mandela said: "Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. You can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom".

This year, Webber Wentzel has partnered with  Habitat for Humanity; the @6 Community Development from Orange Farm; and the Nelson Mandela Foundation to help build 67 houses for families in the Drieziek, Orange Farm area.

The purpose of the Employee Volunteer Programme is to offer all Webber Wentzel employees an opportunity to be personally involved in making a difference from 17 to 21 July 2017 (we can accommodate a maximum of 15 people per day).

  • For the duration of the build week Habitat for Humanity will:
  • provide orientation with all volunteers on information about the project, health & safety and the daily target schedule;
  • provide morning tea and lunch;
  • assign a crew leader who will supervise and assign tasks to Webber Wentzel volunteers on the construction site; and
  • provide working tools, safety hard hats and reflector bibs (to be handed in to the crew leader at the end of each construction day).

Webber Wentzel will provide:

  • Transport to/from 90 Rivonia to Orange Farm (leaving Webber Wentzel at 08h00 and returning to Webber Wentzel by 16h30);
  • T-shirts for each volunteer; and
  • Refreshments.

On the day, you are strongly advised to wear comfortable clothing - something you do not mind soiling such as old jeans and takkies. Please also note that Habit for Humanity are unable to cater for special dietary requirements, so please pack your own lunch if needed.
